Want to get to know me a little better?
Here you go.
Just some random – fun and interesting facts I thought it would be fun to share.
1.) The best way to my heart – is through a good cup of Jo. Bring me – or even better – make me a nice, fresh, hot, good cup of Coffee – I automatically love you! ha. Seriously, I love a good cup of coffee. My kids also say I’m a lot nicer with Coffee. Believe them! 😁🍵
2.) I’m a hugger. If you’re having a bad day, going through something and feel like nobody cares, need a good cry and someone to hold you while you do it, want to fall asleep in someone’s arms, or just need a hug – no questions asked – I’m your gal! I love to give hugs, and it’s even better when someone tells me they need it and would love a hug. 🫂If you ask me for a hug – I’m opening my arms and telling you to, “Bring it in!”. lol.
3.) I used to want to be a Cheerleader. Crazy, right? When I was in elementary school – (7th or 8th grade I believe) – I filled out the form, my mother signed it, I tried out – and once I was told I would make the team – I didn’t want it anymore. Those ugly Maroon skirts weren’t my thing, and I didn’t think I’d be good at it anyway, so I decided not to do it, but I could have and sometimes wonder if I should have. If I watch movies with Cheerleaders in it, I giggle now thinking about that time in my life when I could have been and decided not to.
4.) I’ve always wanted to adopt a kid out of foster care. I think all kids deserve a good home, and a loving parent. So, my biggest goal is to one day be able to adopt and raise a child who isn’t mine, but by love – becomes mine. When I was married many years back – my husband at the time and I – were going to adopt a child named Logan. We were approved for everything, but the room our son and Logan would share – was a few inches too small, and we were told we would need a bigger room if they were going to share it.
We ended up looking for another / bigger apartment, so we could have Logan’s caseworker come back and approve the new room, but unfortunately, Logan was adopted by another family before we had the chance to find another place that was bigger. Maybe that was for the best though because he and I divorced not too long after that. Still, I want to adopt one day and give another child a place to call home and someone to call “Mom”.
I’ve always felt like if someone has the financial means, the heart and the love to give – you should adopt at least one child.
5.) I love to write (as you can see!).
I started off journaling in elementary school and keeping diaries. I then learned poetry and started writing that – eventually winning a poetry contest and having my poem published in a magazine. I have the certificate somewhere, but I didn’t keep the magazine it was. The poem was part of a dark time in my life I don’t want to remember, but I was proud I won though. I continued to write poetry for the longest, and haven’t done it in a while, but I might start up again someday.
In elementary and high school – I wrote short stories, scripts and plays with my best friend, and then – worked on a book that I started over and over because I didn’t think it was good enough to publish, but I’m finally ready to start working on that again and maybe have it out by the end of this year.
I’ve been blogging since I was in my freshman year of high school, and here I am – still doing it.
It’s a passion of mine and writing soothes my soul. 💕
